A large winery located in the heart of central Tuscany, nestled on those hills that have shaped the history of wine, landscape, and culture.
A few kilometers from Florence, located at an altitude of 330 meters, a panoramic "terrace" from which you can look out over a vast part of Tuscany.
A 120-hectare estate combining two farms with extraordinary histories of wine and oil, vineyards and olive groves on a blessed land. The property offers hospitality, catering, and event planning, welcoming guests from around the world.
The real estate assets consist of the main villa with annexed agricultural premises,
offices, employee housing, a fully renovated building for hospitality with four apartments (with 22 beds), and a tasting room with a restaurant on the ground floor.
Opposite the main entrance to the farm, we find the "Leopoldina" farmhouse, dating back to the late eighteenth century. It is 600 square meters that offer more than one solution and many alternatives and opportunities.
Furthermore there is the farmhouse consisting of two units in addition to the barn.
The other three-story farmhouse, dating back to around 1860, covers an area of 270 square meters, while the 150-square-meter barn also covers an area of 150 square meters. The former furnace (to be converted into a living space) covers an area of 80 square meters.
The agricultural part of the company is made up of 38 hectares of vineyards with vines that were all replanted between 1995 and 2010, with an intensity ranging from 3,700 to 6,000 vines per hectare.
Among the native varieties, Sangiovese stands out, with over 30 different clones followed by Canaiolo, Colorino, Abrostine. Furthermore, the vineyards also contain Montepulciano and Pugnitello, Trebbiano toscano, Malvasia lunga del Chianti and San Colombano.
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are 3 international grape varieties present in the
company vineyards, in addition to the Petit Manseng, a white grape.
In the historic cellars of the Farmhouse the following are produced:
Chianti (Sangiovese – Canaiolo – Colorino)
Chianti Colli Fiorentini (Sangiovese – Canaiolo – Colorino – Merlot – Syrah) Fianesco (Abrostine – Syrah)
Vinified in stainless steel tanks (3500 Hl) and concrete tanks (400 Hl),
The wines mature in European oak barrels and barriques (400 Hl).
In addition to the vineyards, the company has 12 company-owned olive groves for a total of approximately 26 hectares and 7,500 trees.
In the company mill, which crushes up to 20 quintals of olives per hour and also works
for thirds, an extra virgin olive oil is extracted, rich in personality.
Thanks to the cold-pressed process, without adding water, we obtain an oil with a remarkable aromatic charge: intensely fruity, with a spicy and full-bodied flavour, with notes of artichoke and almond.
Multivarietal oil, because it is obtained with at least 4 or 5
varieties: Frantoio (40%), Leccio del Corno (30%), Moraiolo (20%), Pendolino, Maurino, Morcaio (10%).
The company also has 31.5 hectares of forest, much of which is cut down.
The farm is located in an ancient village perched on a ridge just outside Certaldo. The first mention of the farm is found in a Papal Bull issued by Pope Alexander III, which indicates that the original core of the farm dates back to the 12th century.
During careful restoration work, three Etruscan grain storehouses and two cellars, located in old Etruscan tombs (recognizable by their characteristic pointed arches), were discovered. These are located near the historic cellar, which now houses the wood used to age the wines.
With the passion of the archaeologist and the vision of the owner, a recovery is carried out
exceptional, which today features, next to the tasting room, a fascinating journey into the distant past. In it, one can even see the layers of the geological levels,
The farm boasts panoramic views as far as the eye can see: from Pratomagno to Mount Amiata, from the boric acid fumaroles of Larderello to the sharp peaks of the Apuan Alps, all the way to the snow-capped peaks of Cimone and Abetone.
The farm is equipped with all the necessary equipment for running the
vineyards and olive groves, both in the production and processing phases.
It therefore has its own cellar and its own oil mill.
Authenticity, tradition. But also creativity and innovation: the wines produced are literally "imprinted" on the land where they are produced.
The soil, the geographical position, the microclimate constitute the "terroir", a clay in the hands of the winemaker, who leaves his indelible mark.
